The red ‘drone’ which turned out to be a red helium balloon

2019-07-03: A WestJet Boeing 737-700 (WJA935) from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) to Calgary, AB (CYYC) reported a red drone sighting approximately 100M north of the threshold of Runway 23. A Jazz de Havilland DHC 8 300 (JZA8314) from Sault Ste. Marie, ON (CYAM) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) and a WestJet Boeing 737-700 (WJA668) from Calgary, AB (CYYC) to Toronto/Lester B. Pearson, ON (CYYZ) were overshot and all arrivals were switched to Runway 24R.

The inspection found a red helium balloon 50M north of Runway 23. Departures continued with information passed to each pilot.
